Installation Of Buck’s Lower Wind Deflectors

(US Shipments Are Pre-Assembled)

Please read completely before installing lowers.

These wind deflectors are made for mounting on the stock Yamaha windshield bracket .

These lowers will fit both "Big  Bars" , as well as the smaller engine guards. In some cases a slight contact

with the road bars may occur, but should NOT interfere with steering.

WHEN INSTALLING THE FLAT WASHERS, THE ROUNDED SIDE ALWAYS FACES THE CHROME!

If lowers are pre-assembled, start with step 5.

1.       Remove the chromed plastic plugs from the Yamaha shield mount – two on each side.

2.       Insert a rubber/stainless washer onto each of two  ¼” x ¾” Allen head stainless bolts.

3.       Insert bolts through a Lexan deflector, and install another rubber/stainless washer on each bolt. . The Lexan is now sandwiched between rubber washers.

4.       Thread the two bolts through the chrome mount ,followed by a stainless washer (Rounded side toward chrome) and a self locking nut on each. Compress the rubber washers snugly. Do not over tighten. The rubber washers hold the plastic securely with little pressure. Holes in the plastic are oversized for some adjustment later.

5.       The chrome bracket may now be bolted to the stock shield mounting holes, using

two ¼” x 5/8” bolts and four washers. Place a flat washer under the bolt head and another under the nut – ROUNDED SIDE TOWARD THE CHROME. The larger slotted hole on the chrome bracket should be at the top of assembly. This  allows pitch adjustments.

Note: The top of the Lexan lower goes IN BACK of the windshield, Royal Stars – in front.

6.       Repeat for the other bracket.

7.       Position the lowers so as to clear the backside of the shield by 1/8” to ½” or so. Too much gap will create turbulence. Make sure the bottom of the Lexan will not contact the front wheel reflectors when the front shocks compress. If using road lights, the Lexan will be in back of the turn signal by 1/8”.  From a front view, insure the plastic is parallel with the forks.

From a side view, vary the vertical position for the most effective wind protection.

8.       Tighten all bolts - being careful to not overly compress the rubber washers.

Tighten just enough to prevent the Lexan from moving. The bracket mounting bolts may now be firmly tightened to the windshield mounting bracket.

9.       Check clearances, lock to lock.
